| Need New Cheerleading Uniforms? |
After four years with the same uniform it was time for our school to invest in new ones. We started off asking for sponsors to help offset the cost of the uniforms. Depending on the amount of their donations we offered various ways of advertising their company such as having their logo printed on the back of the warm up suits or on the gym bags the girls brought to every competition. This helped offset the cost of the uniforms immensely.
For our team we were able to purchase a practice uniform which was a basic t-shirt with the school logo and shorts in the school colors. A warm up track suit that was to be worn to and from every competition along with a matching gym bag to carry all their essentials, shoes and of course the new uniforms. There are many different styles of uniforms available to choose from. Keep in mind the size of the girls and boys on the team and look for uniforms that will be flattering for all shapes and sizes. You want the team to look great and to also feel great in them. They will not carry themselves with confidence if they feel self-conscious in the uniform. All the uniforms must match unless there are boys on the team and then they would wear matching pants. You can choose from tops with or without long sleeves, a second top overtop which has the team logo on, and tops that show the midriff. If they have a skirt matching spankies are worn underneath or they can have skorts. The skirts must have enough flare to them that the team is able to do jumps and tumbling without any restraints. The uniform should fit with a little breathing room otherwise you will notice some on the team always pulling down their tops or skirts. Choose fabric that is very durable, flexible and breathes well. They teams work very hard during their routine and get quite hot. Shoes should have good ankle support and allow the feet to breath. The should also be lightweight and comfortable. Some shoes come with little inserts that can be placed along the side of the shoe to add a splash of your team color. The most important thing is that you allow enough time for the uniforms to arrive before any competitions as there will always be some type of alteration needing to be made to at least one of the uniforms. | Healthy Fundraising Ideas |
Healthy school fundraising is not impossible. In fact there are more healthy fundraisers available than those that would be considered unhealthy. Schools that are very concerned about healthy eating habits might want to avoid cookie and candy bar sales - especially during the school day and on school property. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand the temptation to kids if you offer freshly baked chocolate chip cookies during the school day. The thought process is that students rightfully misunderstand the school or school group that preaches the importance of good health and then sells unhealthy foods to raise money for what tell you is a good cause. It is true that cookies and chocolate bars have little nutritional value and would not be considers a healthy fundraising option. However, those products in and of themselves does not cause the bad state of health in today's schools. Certainly it is the overindulgence in these products combined with a lack of physical activity that are the major contributors. There are, though, many ideas for healthy school fundraising. The best healthy fundraising option would be one that includes physical activity as the main feature of the fundraiser. We suggest schools, especially at the elementary school level, consider holding a walk-a-thon. Students are asked to walk laps around the sports field or school yard. They get parents, family, neighbors and relatives to make pledges for each unit or lap the student completes. It is a great way to promote physical fitness with healthy fundraising. Other similar options include bike a thons or jump a thons. The school or group might sponsor a 5K 0r 10K run or walk. Other healthy fundraising options might include a skating night at the local skating rink. Kids love to skate and the rink operator will love the traffic. Another exercise filled fundraising activity is holding car washes - especially if you will really let the students or fundraising participants actually wash the cars. If you want to use one of the tried and proven product fundraisers there are plenty that might not be considered healthy fundraisers, but certainly would not be considered unhealthy. You might sell candles or gift wrap, greeting cards or coupon books, magazines or cookbooks. And, finally, if you really want a healthy fundraising option, consider holding a farmer's market type event at your school selling items like fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and trail mix and even bottled water. | Tea Tree Oil Uses |
Tea tree oil uses are plentiful, although this pure essential oil is more commonly know for their skin care applications. There are over 98 different compounds in the native tree from the Northeast coast of Australia. All of these compounds play an important factor in the healing properties of tea tree oil, although 4-terpineol is directly responsible for this pure essential oil's antiseptic and antifungal properties. Because of the potent all natural chemical properties, different types of skin care allow for many tea tree oil uses. Firstly, tea tree oil is produced through steam distillation of the trees leaves.
