Halloween is For Adults Too!

Halloween is just around the corner. The holiday has been celebrated for centuries by young and old alike. The kids like going from door-to-door, announcing trick-or-treat, and coming home with a bag for of candy or little prizes. But, it is also a chance for the adults to let his/her inner child out for a night of fun and fantasy.

Especially today, life seems to be full of concerns. The price of gas has gone way up over the past few months. In turn, it seems like all of the goods and services have taken a fantastic and expensive leap. People are required to work harder and still coming home with less. The opportunities to have a little fun and put the cares on the shelf for the evening are few and far between.

But, now Halloween is almost here. It's time to have a party and celebrate. Remember what it has been like in the past? Dress up, put on some extra makeup or a mask, and go around with the kids to get candy or treats. Better yet, have a costume party. Invite friends over for some good eats, games, music, and maybe a contest for the best outfit. Today, the selection of Halloween attire is not limited to the population of kids twelve and younger. Some great adult costumes are a marvelous means of allowing that inner child free for just one night.

Grownups can fulfill fantasies or indulge a secret desire to be someone else for a couple of hours. For example, most costume parties usually have at least one typical demon to put a little scare in the festivities. In response, others may choose to be the angel to the rescue. Alternatively, maybe others want to be the cat's meow or a fluffy bunny.

Still some adults remember the days of playing cowboys and Indians behind the living room furniture or behind the bushes in the back yard for hours at a time. Why not relive the good old days just for one night. Let the old hair down, if there is any left, and whoop it up for one night of fun.

Even the adults that spent their younger days watching and reading about fairy tales over and over again, Halloween adult attire can bring all those memories flooding back in a fun and fanciful way.

So, for one night, let all the cares of adulthood sit on the shelf of life for just a couple of hours. Get a great costume. Have a party or go trick-or-treat with the kids. Attend the harvest party with a church family. However you choose to celebrate, you can be a kid again for a few hours. Happy Halloween!

Will the Atlantic Times Address the German Threat?

Congratulations to The Atlantic Times on its first-anniversary issue!

As reported by "This week in Germany," the English-language paper was launched "to stop the drifting apart of Europe and America, and especially Germany and America ... and to build on common ground while learning to live with our differences," said the paper's executive editor, the renowned journalist Theo Sommer...the paper has featured scores of articles by prominent leaders and experienced journalists from both sides of the Atlantic..."Our basic message, in print and online, has been, and will be: We are still friends, and we must remain friends," said Sommer. "So let us not confront each other with swollen necks, but let us reason together."

Noble aims that are praiseworthy indeed! Mr. Theo Sommer is definitely to be commended for his efforts. However, based upon the stark testimony of the two witnesses of history and the Bible, Germany and the United States are going to continue to have some very serious disagreements that will ultimately destroy our friendship, alienate our countries and find Germany leading the European Union in a blitzkrieg nuclear attack against the United States!

Before that horrifying "Time of Jacob's Trouble," "the Great Tribulation," the British-Israelites will trust the Assyrian-Germans with their security! Our Anglo-Saxon fools will increasingly rely on blind alliances with Germany and Europe that will be broken to pieces like so much shattered crystal!

Hosea 7:11

Ephraim (Anglo-Saxons) also is like a silly dove, without sense- They call to Egypt, They go to Assyria (Germany).

Herbert W. Armstrong, chancellor of Ambassador College and founder of the Worldwide Church of God and editor-in-chief of The Plain Truth magazine and broadcaster of The World Tomorrow radio and television program, warned the world for years that a European combine, driven by Germany, would thresh the nations. He dared to make such bold proclamations when Germany was in rubble after WWII and divided.

Germany is destined to lead the European Union against the American, British and Jewish peoples, a divine instrument to punish us for our intolerable sins that rise up against Heaven (not that they're sinless):

Isaiah 10:5-8

5 Woe to Assyria (Germany), the rod of My anger

And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.

6 I will send him against an ungodly nation (the Anglo-Saxons and Jews),

And against the people of My wrath

I will give him charge,

To seize the spoil, to take the prey,

And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

7 Yet he does not mean so,

Nor does his heart think so;

But it is in his heart to destroy,

And cut off not a few nations.

It is not in Germany's mind today, or its present peaceful people, to wage war against us, but that will all change overnight, after a head-on collision with the Islamic leader of a confederation of Muslim states, their mahdi, whetting Europe's appetite for more blood and morphing the EU into THE BEAST. They will destroy all Muslim opposition with a vengeance.

Whereas most Germans are not aware of vile intentions of influential Germans under Jesuit influence to revive the unholy Roman Empire of the German Nation, the Fourth Reich, to embark on a new crusade into the Middle East, Beyond Babylon: Europe's Rise and Fall bares their grand design before the world: the German-Assyrians will strike again!

The Atlantic Times, regardless of whether or not they believe any of this prophetic scenario possible about Germany, owes it to their readers to address this issue that is most serious to a growing number of Bible-believing Christians and many Jews. Can we trust them to deliver?

Planning Your Child's Birthday Party Without Breaking the Bank

As a parent planning your child's birthday party, your first impulse might be to go out and buy all the matching Elmo decorations and plates, plan a four-course meal and buy a huge cake for your child's birthday party. However, the number one ingredient for a great birthday party is fun! You can plan a fun birthday party for your child without spending tons of money.

Party Location

Instead of going to the expense of renting a place for your birthday party, why not have it at your house or at the park. It's free! And if your house is not big enough for the occasion asking grandparents or another relative to use their home is not out of the question. Be sure and clean up afterwards though.

Go Cheap on the Invitations

Instead of buying those expensive invitations, why not make your own? Handwritten and homemade invitations can add a personal touch. Or you can make computer generated ones and even add a picture of your child on the invitation. Another great idea is the almighty Internet. Email your invitation or use a website such as www.evite.com to send your invitations. This will save you on stamps as well.

Plan Easy Games

Plan easy games that will cost nothing or little. You can make your own pin the tail on the donkey game or play duck, duck goose, musical chairs or Simon says. There are also many game ideas on the web to choose from. If you are planning an outdoor party some inexpensive sand toys, Frisbees and balls can add to the fun.

Keep the Food Simple

Keep the food simple. Most kids love hot dogs and chips. Serve drinks of soda, juice and punch from large bottles and avoid those expensive cans and juice boxes. Store bought cakes are expensive so prepare your own birthday cake or let grandma or another relative prepare it as part of their gift to the child. Or it is not unheard of to just serve cake and ice cream at a birthday party. Usually that is what the kids want to eat anyway.

Don't Go All Out on Decorations

There is no need to buy all those matching plates and napkins. If your child really loves Elmo maybe have a few Elmo plates for the kids and use regular plates and napkins for everyone else. You can also use leftover plates and napkins from other events and purchase decorations from discount stores. Blow up some inexpensive balloons to add to the occasion.

Avoid Spending a Bunch on Treat Bags

Purchase some white paper lunch bags and let the kids decorate their own treat bags with stickers, crayons and glitter. Find inexpensive items and candy at discount stores to fill the bags.

Don't Sweat it

Children are pretty easy to please. At parties they mostly entertain themselves. Throw in some games, toys and cake and they will have the time of their life!

The Key Differences Between Networking Sites

The rise in networking sites in the UK for business purposes has given us the ability to network fellow professionals and proactively make valuable business connections. However, with an endless stream of new sites coming up weekly how do we know which ones will be most useful for our needs? Some are useful for attending events and some for plain networking, an extension of our outlook address books.

Here are just some of the sites you can review: linkedin, xing, word of mouse, plaxo, naymz, blue chip expert, fastpitch, ecademy.... You see this list seems to grow weekly.

Well how do you know which one is best?

It's difficult that's for sure, and to find the time to research and use each one is just not possible.

Firstly and foremost, you need to define what you require and what you want to get out of using a networking site. Each one has its own nuances and benefits. In my opinion, two you should join would be linkedin and ecademy; you could say these were the mainstream sites (akin to monster) in the job board world. These two sites differ; linkedin is really more focused on your personal profile within a company etc, ecademy really more focused on promoting your own business if you are a sole trader/company owner looking for new clients. Both in turn create good exposure.

As for all the other sites I will evaluate these further in my next article, but as a teaser they are much more niche but also can serve a purpose.

Linkedin

Positive

  • A good robust site, intuitive design aimed at the mainstream market Great for promoting your background and experience whilst not appearing to be looking for a job
  • Good features including in-mails whereby you can directly contact people
  • Good for pro-active job seekers - Getting in contact with recruiters in your field
  • The ability to use or remove as many features as you want
  • Good for networking in the UK with a wide user base of professionals at all levels
  • Access to direct company adverts on the site - New feature on company profiles allows you to view a company's history and key execs

Negative

  • Overused by recruiters
  • Often people have their private email attached to alerts, meaning contacting new people can take weeks/months
  • The Q&A section is pointless, offering little benefits
  • A little impersonal, more like the monster website aka mainstream to the networking world
  • Predominately an American base still but heavy growth in UK adoption

Xing

Positive

  • Good for European based businesses and connections
  • Good features and layout, easy to use and connect with other networkers

Negative

  • Very European focused, especially German
  • More smaller/SME organisations means job hunting through the site and making the right connections in the UK difficult

Ecademy

Positive

  • Good for looking for networking events
  • Gives you a SEO presence if you are a smaller business by allowing you to add meta titles/tags
  • Great for small companies/sole traders to advertise their services
  • Good forums adding real value to serious business questions, especially again for entrepreneurs starting out
  • It's partnered with a leading job board meaning you can search 1000's of jobs
  • Much more of a networking site than Linkedin. You make connections with people to develop knowledge and add value; Linkedin is much more of an extended outlook address book

Negative

  • Better for people in small businesses
  • Unlike Linkedin, you have to really use the site to get its benefits. It's unlikely you will get much out of it if you aren't using for at least half an hour a day
  • The design and intuitiveness not as strong as others blackstar membership seems to be unnecessary unless you take networking very seriously

Naymz & Plaxo

These two sites are very niche; the features they offer are not as extensive as the 3 above. You tend to just replicate the information.

- Naymz is mainly about building a reputation network, whereby you are a valued expert through recommendations. Seems a very confusing and non-user friendly site.
- Plaxo is just a more feature rich way to store email addresses and numbers, with many new features alike to Linkedin. Neither are worth paying for subscriptions, and both have predominately US users

Blue chip expert

A novel way to build a network and if anyone hires through it you are rewarded. No real value other than that. It's US focused and rather convoluted as a way to network, but if you on the off chance just want to use it and see if you can make money have a go. Especially is you have several colleagues in your network in hiring positions

Fastpitch

Similar to ecademy but this focuses on providing a real targeted and quick pitch of your business to the wider world. Very much like giving a 30 second pitch to new people you meet face2face but in an electronic format. Good idea but not sure of its longevity and user adoption in the UK to get business from it.

Volume Metrics

"Volumetrics" may be something used by dietitians in order to determine what can make someone feel the fullest while ingesting the fewest calories, but if you're going to Japan, you'll need to know something about "volume-metrics" if you are going to have a successful stay. Since Japan is on the metric system, you'll need to know something about metric volume conversion, either by using a volume conversion chart or a calculator.

About Shakkanho

Shakkanho is the system of measurement used in Japan prior to that nation's adoption of the metric system in 1924. For twelve centuries prior to that, the shakkanho system was standard - and in fact is still used by realtors, carpenters and the rice wine industry. If you enjoy warm butterscotch, you'll find the taste of sake, the traditional Japanese rice wine pleasing. This is a good place to return to the subject of metric volume conversion, because although sake is still sold and measured by the sho, it's measured in liters and centiliters. By using a volume conversion chart you'll notice that a sho of sake is 1.8 liters - just slightly larger than most standard wine bottles in Western countries. You can use your volume conversion table to figure out the proper serving size, which is 1/10th of the bottle, or 180 milliliters - about the size of a shot glass.

Going Metric

As you can see, there's nothing difficult about the conversion of units; volume measurements in the metric system are always based on multiples and divisors of ten. So if a milliliter is 1/1000th of a liter, a centiliter is 1/100th and a deciliter is 1/10th. Consulting your volume conversion table, you'll see that ten liters equal a decaliter, 100 liters equal a hectoliter (about the size of a beer keg or the gas tank on a large truck or SUV) and 1000 liters - just enough to fill a traditional Japanese bath or a hot tub - is a kiloliter.

For all practical purposes however, your volume conversions will be limited to liters and centiliters.

Where To Use It

Except for sake, all liquids - beverages, medications, chemicals and liquid fuels - are sold by the liter. If you are driving a rental car and must buy fuel, a volume conversion table will be helpful in determining your rate of fuel consumption. If you're buying soft drinks or beer, however, you'll find most bottles are measured in centiliters. It's helpful to think of a liter as being approximately one quart when determining the proper conversion of units. Volume measurements like these are not difficult when this is kept in mind.

Cell Phone Number Trace - Find Out Who's Calling

Doing a cell phone number trace is not always so easy today. While land line numbers are in phone books and can be easily found if you dial information, cell phones are quite a bit different. It used to be extremely difficult to trace these cell numbers, but today it is easier than ever before, and while there are many paid ways to do it, today there are actually a few ways that you can trace these numbers without having to only rely on a paid service. However, if you try the free ways and don't succeed, a paid directory may be a great choice for you.

Tip #1 - Try a Search Online - One free way that you can do a free cell phone number trace is to try doing a search online. The internet and search engines are powerful tools and you can use them to your benefit if you're trying to trace a cell phone number. This is an easy and inexpensive way for you to look for the number you want. Many people actually list their phone numbers online at various websites, making it searchable to you. This means you often can just Google a cell phone number and find out who really does own it. It's so simple and fast, and best of all, it's free.

Tip #2 - Look at Online Cell Phone Directories - Another free way that you may be able to trace the cell phone number you have is to take a look at the online cell phone directories that are out there today. You'll find that there are a variety of free directories that are now available. While there are some free directories, it is important to realize that they are often quite limited in the numbers that they carry and you may not find all the information that you need.

Tip #3 - Search Through Reverse Lookup Websites - Today there are a few free reverse lookup sites, although some of the best ones are going to charge you a small free. If you're trying to do a cell phone number trace, using one of these sites is a great idea. Some will let you do a limited amount of searches for free, while others may make you pay for all of them, it just depends on the site you try to use.

Tip #4 - Try Volunteer Phone Directories - Another option that you have is a volunteer directory. This is a place where people actually voluntarily provide their contact information, such as a cell number. In some cases you may be able to find information you're looking for on a site like this.

These are a few ways that you can trace a cell number; however, if they are not successful for you, then try using a paid directory. Sure, it's not always easy to do a trace, but with modern technology and paid directories, today you can do a cell phone number trace fairly easily.
